River sand for reptiles

Soft-shell turtles particularly prefer fine sand for digging and burrowing. A rough surface, like gravel, can easily injure soft skin tissues. River sand is very fine and can be easily passed when ingested, unlike gravel or stones which can cause digestive issues. Formed over time in an African river, river sand is extremely fine and round, making it an ideal and safe substrate for aqua-terrariums.
