As its name suggests, the basil lemon is instantly recognisable by its lemony scent and taste.

It is mainly used raw with fish or in salads, but it can also be used in baking or herbal teas.

It is said to repel mosquitoes.

Add it at the end of cooking to retain all its flavour properties; it is better to tear it rather than chop it to make the most of its aromas.

It grows quite quickly, so it’s advisable to trim it regularly. Flowering makes the leaves bitter and stops growth. We recommend that you trim your basil plant very regularly before it flowers.

After trimming your vegetable garden, you can freeze what you haven't used either by placing the leaves in a freezer bag without air in the freezer or by chopping the leaves into ice cube trays, filled with water or oil and placed in the freezer. You can also store your basil leaves directly in a bottle of oil to flavour it. If dried, it will lose a lot of flavour.
